COAT
The Springer has an outer coat and an undercoat. On the body, the outer coat is of medium length, flat or wavy, and is easily distinguishable from the undercoat, which is short, soft and dense. Climate and season affect the quantity of undercoat. When in combination, outer coat and undercoat serve to make the dog substantially waterproof, weatherproof and thornproof. On ears, chest, legs and belly the Springer is nicely furnished with a fringe of feathering of moderate length and heaviness. On the head, front of the forelegs, and below the hock joints on the front of the hind legs, the hair is short and fine. The coat has the clean, glossy, "live"appearance indicative of good health.

CHARACTER
The typical Springer is friendly, eager to please, quick to learn and willing to obey. Such traits are conducive to tractability, which is essential for appropriate handler control in the field. In the show ring, he should exhibit poise and attentiveness

PROBLEM	SOLUTION
Detangling/Dematting	Apply full strength Moisture Plus liberally to the mat. Wait 15 minutes. Pull mat gently apart with fingers or comb.
Greasy Coat	Use Cleansing Shampoo instead of Moisturizing Shampoo.
Coat lacks body	Use Texturizing Shampoo instead of Moisturizing Shampoo
Dingy White Coat	Use Cleansing Shampoo on the first lather, wait 5 minutes then rinse. Lather with Moisturizing Shampoo and rinse.
Urine Stains	Use a small amount of Cleansing Shampoo full strength, wait 5 minutes and rinse
Flyaway Hair	Make an anti-static spray with 2 Tablespoons Moisture Plus in 1-pint water.
Thin leg furnishings/feathers	Spray diluted Texturizing Mist into a damp coat and fluff dry with a blow dryer.
